Maizie Allison was born on April 10, 2008. It was quickly realized that her mortal life would be filled with obstacles. Maizie was born with Down-Syndrome. Three months after she was born Maizie’s biological parents acknowledged that the strain of raising Maizie with all of her challenges would be too much. Shortly after, my sister and her husband received a phone call and within seconds opened their hearts and their home to Maizie. Doctor visits, eye surgeries, attorney fees, adoption fees, and more. I marveled at how Jeremy and Meg accepted all of these trials without ever complaining. And then I met Maizie. Cross-eyed and smiling, she won my heart. I love you Maizie.
